NSBO buckle

Article about: Here is a new buckle that I received today, an NSBO. Forum member David North has told me that these buckles were found as part of a hoard in the Netherlands. I have a theory as to the maker

    (unmarked SA by Overhoff)

The prongs are similar to some Overhoff buckles and the solder points are in the same place. I don't think Overhoff made the roundel, though. Maybe some unknown company made the roundels and contracted other producers for the boxes.

I think that someone made the roundels, which were either bought by well-known companies (Overhoff, Berg und Nolte) or applied to boxes made by those companies. Above pictured are three identical roundels affixed to two different types of boxes. I'm almost certain that Berg und Nolte made the box which is owned by the WAF member, and as Ben points out, Overhoff might have made the boxes for the others.

I do not claim to know anything about NSBO buckles, but I believe this is an original variant, although in bad condition. Comments appreciated

Original N.S.B.O. buckle, albeit a tad "tired and distressed".

    Regards,

    David
