    Hi Gent's,
i got these two beauties from a local vet many years ago. he brought them back with two other daggers i got from him too. both sides of the blade and the spine are engraved. not sure if the name on the spine is the owner? or the seller? not military, but i do like blades.

Andrew, these look top notch, as usual for your collections. The whole idea of a forestry service having a dagger is cool. Frankly, any excuse to wear a dagger is, but at least in the woods there is a chance its more then ceremonial.

I would assume that name is maker. Pretty well-planned if the owner.

    Thanks for sharing.

Andrew - Real beauties- both are imperial Jager (Hunting) hirschfangers -usually the Forestry Hirschfanger has the Grip Knuckle bow(Griffbugel) where the Jager does not. Also the name etc on the back of the spin is the distributors name etc-The makers are ACS Alcoso and the Z in a shield is Clemen and Jung both Solingen.

I say usually above as in the early Imperial period both the Jager and forester wore the Hirschfanger without the bow, later in the imperial era the difference was made between the hirschfanger with or without the bow. A Forester who was also a trained hunter could wear the Hirschfanger without the knuckle-bow.
Hope I didnt confuse you all -
    Great Items
