That SA if its a fake is convincing from the photograph at least. What gives it away? Does it have the incorrect tang when you pull it apart, is the workmanship shoddy?. is it RZM or earlier logo maker marked. I once bought a fake SA here in Sydney as soon as I got out in the bright sunlight I picked it. The Blade rattled, the etching was poor quality and the RZM marking was so fake looking, the Z was not crossed and it looked like it had been done with a bogey engraving tool of some sort. The scabbard fittings were poor quality. From a distance and in the darkened room it fooled me but I was new to daggers back then. The seller bought it back for half price and banned me as a troublemaker. I took the view a Fake is worthless and what did I expect from a Disposal Store that sold mainly fake militaria.
    cheers Robert.

I have a collection that I inherited from my grandfather. Some items have RZM markings, others do not. Likewise some have manufacturers markings and insignias, while others do not.

For instance, I have an SA dagger without any RZM marking but it has an SW on the hilt to indicate that the owner was stationed in the sudwest region. Is it fake or is it real?

Hi Flum, again welcome to the forum!

My friend has offered you very good advice.

Lack of RZM marks is not a problem.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks for the response guys. I will make a thread a bit later posting pictures of the entire collection. As far as daggers are concerned, it seems my grandfather had one of each major piece. From luftwaffe, to naval daggers, to forestry.
