A bit rough, but it does appear to be an authentic Infantriemesser 42, with replaced home made wood grips and some blade length lost as well.

No, it was brought from Germany recently, and was on a flea market along side with some old instruments ( obviously was forgotten in some German workshop or barn...)

I’m considering making of new grips and used it for re-enactment as it is not in collectible condition..

Looks like it has had a lot of post war use. Could have been a farmers knife.
