Because the emblems covered the scrabbard. I think it was broken when the red cross member or the owner pulled out the knife.

    Dean O
Well Dean, just tell me what maker made this one!
If you look for a post about Red cross hewer made by me, you could tell me the answer

This dagger has no collectors value, look underneath the leather if the gripplates are still there, or if the paint of the scabbard is still there.
There are glue removers that will not harm the enamel paint, so it might be brought in a more Original state.
The medaillions of these lunesloss Hewers have a tendency of breaking right in the middle, like this one.
    Klaas used a better potmetal.

Here is how they looked like in their glory days, one i posted a while back!

Gerrit er zit idd nog zwarte verf onder. Ik zal even nder het hoesje kijken van het handvat de schede verf zit er nog onder alleen beetje roestig ook.

(The black paint is under the leather protection. I will take a look at the leather handle. The original scrabbard paint is a little bit rusty but u can see black paint.

I painted the scrabbard in high glance black ( like the original color) i let the parts that had to be silver a mix of rust and silver.
