I believe this dagger was preseneted to Hitler for his State Visit to Italy in May 1938. Also note the Corporal of Honour shoulder badge that Hitler wears on his left arm above the party armband. It uniquely shows a 'fasces' emblem, whereas Il Duce's shows an Italian fascist spread eagle. This was presented to him during Mussolini's state visit to Germany in Sept 1937.

Hitler never wore either item again after the state visit in 1938. It has been conjected that the dagger at least, was destroyed by Julius Schaub at the Berghof in 1945 as the Americans approached.

Looks like an Italian Fascists dagger to me. Not that rare, obviously that paticular one was probably a bit special but generally not as well made as the solingen blades. Check out this site, seems to have a fair idea Italian Fascist Military Antique Collectibles and Items
