Next clue:......This logo is associated with Greek mythology and is used today in the medical profession.

I'm pretty confident that it's Aesculap AG, of Tuttlingen. Their symbol is the rod of Asclepius, as used to signify the medical proffesion and probably, in this case, their main business of producing surgical instruments.

Yes Ned your confidence is correct and Im glad you touched on the rod of Asclepius as it gives meaning to an age old logo.
