    Ok, I'm looking at this dagger, the price is ok, but it is missing the K98 type frog that goes with these daggers.

    It seems it is great shape.

    Maker marked Karl Burgsmuller / Berlin- Charlottenburg 5.

    School markings on the cross-guards - Sch 22 / 1942. this would be for the school;

    Schulpforte

    The number 22 , would be the students number, as these were loaned out to the students during their stay at the school, and returned when they left.

    Motto on blade is marked ' MEHR SEIN ALS SCHEINEN '., which translated means "Be modest but always excel".

    I believe this is a legit dagger, as i have looked at a good dozen or so of these, and this is first one i've seen that has the proper markings for the correct school markings. Really stinks that the sheath is missing.

    So, what would the value of this be, with-out the sheath.

    Probably a fake. Wood grip is wrong. School markings school be stamped, not engraved.

    I agree with Vintagetime,,as the blade "looks" legit,,but the grip looks as if it just came out of a woodshop.

    Grip is post war made up. I see this a lot with wrong NPEA Daggers as the fakers easily get the other parts. Blade is possibly correct.
