Absolutely agree a rare jewel,,and we are grateful for this posting. In the future, when posting rarity daggers as these,,do not use direct flash as it washes out most of the detail and true color of the dagger. The cross guards look like the plated type from the photos. Thanks again for this contribution. Regards Larry

The NPEA's are a minefield, and i have a few concerns about this one:

    What strikes me is following:

the lower crossguards of the Eickhorn NPEA is very flat, almost straight: yours isnt.
The M in Mehr ....starts up a bit to high on the middle ridge, although it has the right Eickhorn Motto.

Lots of NPEA's have wear on the scabbard ball by use and show metal surface, mostly a dark iron look, because of iron corrosion:your seems to have no wear, or is it repainted? (but that can also be the flash)
    Is the ball magnetic?

I hope you dont feel offended by my thoughts.

    regards,
    Ger

No problem, this dagger came directly from the priest of the little town of ROUFACH in Alsace where I pick it up personnaly 20 years ago...(23 exactly, for free ...)
The "ball" is of course 100% magnetic and the paint is period paint with the little cracks and at some part even the black metal of the scabbard can be seen as often on old paint.

    Thank you for explaining.

You have been very lucky getting it for free
Pity the flash takes away much of the details of the dagger.

    regards,
    Ger
