    Hello all,

I picked up this nice Red Cross hewer yesterday for a very reasonable price, and I just want to get some opinions on its authenticity. The blade, as far as I can tell, is unmarked. The grips seem correct, as does the cross guard and pommel. The frog shows it's age, but is also unmarked. The scabbard has a few spots of missing paint, but is perfect for the most part. Please give me your opinions on this piece's authenticity and value. Thank you in advance for the info.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

It is a good original item.

The only thing I would question is the paint to the scabbard? It looks slightly eggshell (semi gloss) in finish. The odd little mark showing throught to bare metal makes me think it is repainted?

No idea on current value sorry.

    Adrian,

Thank you for the welcome and the info! The scabbard is actually quite shiny. I think it is just the picture that is making it look like a more flat color. Would I be correct in assuming that mine was made by Klass because of the scabbard construction with screws? Other than taking the grip panels off, is there any other ways to distinguish the makers?

    Thanks again!

Hi, no other ways to tell the makers apart sorry. Yours is by Klass.

    Cheers, Ade.
