Police Sword Question

What is the difference between the police swords with the "split handle" and the "full handle"? I attached pics.

Hi Martin, the picture of the lower sword is not great: is that an Officers sword or an NCO's sword?

The upper photo is of an NCO's sword (no wire binding to the grip). From what I can determine, Officers swords have the split grip, while NCO's do not.
