Is this RAD dagger authentic?

Bought this dagger at a local antique store in Germany but I couldn't get very close to capture all the details because my camera was getting too blurry

What has me concerned is there is a small gap between the guard and blade.

That is not a problem, really, but the sheath looks like it may have been repainted.
If it hasn't the whole piece is in fabulous condition.............!

Is there any way I could know if the sheath has been repainted? If it has, whoever did it did a great job.

Thought I'd add, I don't think this is painted. The woman that sold this to the antique store owner found it in a box along with some old Deutsch Marks after her 91 year old grandmother had died.

I am with you on that cale 920 there dosent seem to be any damage to the screws retaining the fittings on the scabbard looks very nice to me
if you can get better pics of the scabbard we could give you a better opinion,

I'm going to use a friend's DSLR camera to get better images soon, but it won't be tomorrow since he'll be in Dachau all day. I don't plan on selling this dagger, but what would it be worth if it's completely original and the scabbard is not painted?
