Restoring a bayonet

Article about: by Walkwolf K98k bayonets are relatively common, but it is worth something. If the serial numbers ( '5430 c' ) on the scabbard match that of the bayonet, it will be worth more than a mis-mat

They sell on ebay all the time.

Condition is a factor, but it should be worth more to you
    as a family heirloom.........
I hhave no plans to sell it haha. I was just wondering, because i wanted to start collecting stuff like that.

Can I just say, in my opinion, very few methods RESTORE militaria; more often they destroy and or detract from the item. To me every item, be it a tunic , a buclkle, insignia, or a button, reflects its own story regardless of it's condition. I have been fortunate enough to have had passed onto me my Fathers' family's Imperial and Third Reich Militaria. I have literally been offered tens of thousands of dollars for certain items by dealers and collectors but will never sell or attach a dollar value to what represents such a horrendous chapter in my families history. Indeed one of the items I attach the most value to would actually probably be of the least dollar value, being my Father's Hitler Jugend Drum straps.

    Kind regards,

    Grant Reimers.
