    As Bob says above, the condition of an item should not count towards judging authenticity. There are many examples here on the forum of genuine artifacts made 70 odd years ago which are in pristine condition. Just as there are many examples of items made in the last few years which look 70 years old. A fake made yesterday can be aged to look old. A piece made during the war can look like new.
