Hi Brian, we have a forum member, Ron Weinand, who I would regard as an expert on these blades. He has written a book about them. I would contact him via his website:

    Weinand Militaria

    Cheers, Ade.

Perhaps I can rattle off one last parting shot, as you are probably wondering why someone like myself who collects belt buckles, is dipping his toe into the discussion about the NPEA dagger.

I actually still have a small collection of daggers and to include an NPEA, however this dagger was painful to find. Although I never lost any money, I originally and many years back, bought an NPEA from a reputable dealer as original. All complete and with a splendid set of school markings. A fake and actually, it was a very clever hybrid made up from pre 1945 and post 1945 dagger parts.

In my opinion, a truly remarkable fake.

This dagger is not madly popular and actually, I think that the valuation given by my fellow members is an "under estimate" in todays market.

If you intend to purchase one of these daggers, all I would suggest is that you undertake some intensive homework. Ade has given you a great contact in the guise of Ron Weinand and Ron's publication on the subject of NPEA daggers, albeit now a little dated, is still a must for anyone intending to buy the dagger.

I hope that your NPEA dagger proves to be 100% correct.

Please keep us all updated Brian.

    Regards,

    David

Yes, i just got off the phone with Ron, and advised to look for certain makers marks, and stampings that should be on it, if its original.

Waiting for pics from the seller.

thanks, much appreciated for the intell.

    Thanks
    Brian
