    hi brian,

i also got one of these daggers. NPEA daggers remained property of the school and were normally on loan to students being returned upon completion of their studies. Each dagger was stamped on the cross guard with the NPEA establishment number and an inventory number.

    greetings
    Eddy

    Eddy is quite correct.

The dagger was the property of the school and essentially loaned to the student, to be eventually returned. As such, the number is an in house school inventory and does not relate to the pupil.

In addition, Burgsmüller was the dagger distributor and not the manufacturer.

What is the lettering on the cross guard? NO ? This normally is an abbreviation for the name of the school, although I am not familiar with the mark of NO. No doubt a dagger expert will shed more light on what I think is a fascinating dagger.

    Regards,

    David

So, what would the value on it be ?

These seem to be pretty rare.

    Thanks

Here is a list I have. I don't have an "NO" listed. Not saying it is wrong, but that is the limit of my knowledge.

So, i hate to ask again, what would you put a value on this, you seem like the most knowledgeable here.

    Thanks

    Brian,
the value of a dagger like this is aprox $ 2000 for a mint one.

    Ade,
if i am correct there are some more schools then the list you have posted. i'm for shure that there are also schools in Osterreich and luxemburg, maybe thye number NO is from these schools?

OK, and this one is in mint condition, and I think i will buy it, for what he wants for it, and use it as trade for a tunic I'm wanting to buy.

If i decide to sell , instead of trading, I'll let you all know. As I'm sure there would be someone in here would be interested in buying it.

thanks for the information, much appreciated.

Hi Brian, I would agree with Eddy's estimate of value of an original.

Hi Eddy, yes, this list is not complete, just the best I have at present.

    Cheers, Ade.

I am not suggesting for one moment that there is anything wrong with the dagger that you have shown, however I assume that you are aware that the NPEA fakes and which first appeared in the 1970's, are within the most difficult of fakes to detect even now?

In my opinion, anyone buying an NPEA must examine the dagger in very close detail.

    Regards,

    David
