Sure, Wilhelm. No tripod, macro lens or IS lens so this is the best I could do on the fly:

No traces of the original backing material unfortunately...

Thanks Slados28. Maybe it is needed to reconsider the ideas, opinions and
statements, done by the various dealer's and collectors about the "M"-gorget,
when asking during my research for my gorget-book in the years about 2010.

One is never too old to learn. It is obvious one can not always rely upon the
"knowledge" others claim to have. Now I am "hunting" for leaflets, letters,
invoices or a cataloque from Maedicke, you can understand!!

My "M" maker marked Feldgendarmerie gorget came out of the ground in Barta, Kurland... it was found along with a few other gorgets. At the very least I see no reason to doubt my example.
Hard to doubt that one when you know where it came from. Thanks for the input slados28, it has made the discussion much more interesting.

So green paint for the background of "Feldgemarmie" is ok? all I ever saw was black, I passed on this one and Im looking to acquire a cardboard backed version, less chance of being faked.

No rush, the right example will come along eventually and then the wait will have been worth it.

As far as my information goes it might be that the cardboard color is not brown(ish), but a lighter grey!
Such gorget does exist in an old US collection (the only one I thought could be okay).
Purchasing in a hurry is never good. If you have the time, you probably will find one!
