I can't see anything wrong.
Thank you for your reply
happy about spending money for a good item.
but still my question , private purchased NCo shako or a Tshako for sergeant
Possibly private purchase, because as you say the liner is normally seen in an officers helmet, but also the liner swivels on the sides are a goldy colour instead of silver and the leather to the peak appears matt rather than gloss (although that may be the photo or my eyes!).
Overall though I like it. Is that newspaper in the liner?
Just had a poke about and it appears the finish of the leather and goldy fittings make it a late war helmet.
Could it be, that someone simply replaced a missing chinstrap/chinscales of an Officer with that of an NCO's leather strap?
"Much that once was, is lost. For none now live who remember it."
I believe Officers helmets had a different fitting for the chinscales.
thanks for your reply
the newspaper is from 1941 and IMO it makes the liner smaller
the rear visor ( sorry for my english) must be an NCO one, because its not stitched as the officers one.
Personally I think it is an NCOs helmet, but happy to be corrected by others with greater knowledge. And I stiil like it. I have one of these dated 1938 and Is one of my favourite pieces.
Your English is very good by the way.
Just a guess but would think if your paying for you own uniform and accessories you could pay for extra quality. For example a two piece Police visor cap eagle isn't an officers eagle it is just a extra cost option. How many Heer EM Waffenrocks have officers quality bullion eagles? Stag horn grips and etched blades are extra cost upgrades on bayonets.
