Took a while to correctly identify this ....see "Foreign Legions of the Third Reich", Vol 3 ,page 276.

Badge of the Kriegsmarine Werftpolizei , a volunteer French unit raised in 1943 and employed directly by the Police, to guard the important Uboat base at La Pallice.

Nice and very rare badge. Some doubt the light backing, but just that is okay.

Here shown a part from a photo from my file (meant for a later project) from a
person guarding at La Rochelle. Here the patch is being worn. The close-up tells
the background anyway is light. See the attracting black swastika!!
