Two police cap badges: One older than the other? Authentic?

I'd really like to get an authentic police badge but it seems everyone I have seen is bad when I check it out. What do you guys think about these? The first one looked good to me and, I think, has the right kind of prongs. I haven't seen the 2nd one before or looked it up yet, but someone told me it might be an earlier version.

P.S. - If a badge like the 1st (later period?) one has prongs like the 2nd is that a good indicator of a bad/fake piece? Thanks!

Both are good original badges.

2nd pattern badges will often have round pins as opposed to flat pins like seen on the earlier badge.
