Railway Eagle

I am beginning to finish a memorial room for my collection. Possibly looking at buying this railway eagle for placement above a captured Nazi Flag from my family's collection. This railway eagle that I have posted pictures below had a wing broken clean when it was removed from rail car by the soldier. It was repaired by the vet with a weld on back. Crack is there but very hidden unless you are within a couple inches. I have seen these for $1000 to $1400.

Look at Maker Mark that was cast or stamped into eagles wing on back. I have not seen this maker before in my collecting travels and believe it is harder to find one or a repro. I of course want to be fair in my asking price not to insult but also with damage repair want to be fair to myself as well. Personally the crack does not bother me all that much or the repair.

Open to you Box Car Willy Experts on Nazi Train Eagles. Authenticate and give me your opinions.

Looks like a really nice GPH eagle! I am guessing 24"? The weld/repair doesn't bother me either but I guess it would bother others thinking of possible resale value... seeing as it's got a nice obverse I would say something like $1000, possibly a bit more?
The seller should consider that it's in reality a considerable flaw, although perhaps not all that prevalent visually... I think I paid around $1200-1300 for my GPH some years back.

Thanks Slados. Who is maker GPH? This would be a nice header piece for my room / man cave / museum and with like anything else will be bolted to my wall & into my life til I croak. I have made my wife aware if I get hit by a bus next week to come here to sell my obsession

Please don't run me down with a bus anytime soon as I would like to have a few more years to enjoy this stuff

Hehe --- I see what you're saying, I reckon it would look great in your man cave! Unfortunately I sold both of mine off recently... been wanting another one ever since though

No clue as to who's actually behind the GPH maker's name, unfortunately... maybe Saris or someone else could chime in... Ned?

Can't help I'm afraid old bean, I believe that the maker GPH is currently unknown. It is considered to be an uncommon maker and their eagles are high quality and noticeably heavier than others comparable.

The guy did a nice job fixing it, in any case. It looks like it's fine to hang on a train car. I can see no reason to not want it, if the price were reasonable. Valuewise, the repair does bing up the price more than abit, I'm afraid. Personally, I couldn't see more than $750.
