2019 Collecting Resolutions??

Well 2018 is behind us and now it's time to make our 2019 resolutions.

I for one always start the year off with some deep meditation to come up with a "plan". Some years I follow it and others go off track.

For 2018, I was pretty good. Some unexpected "opportunities" presented themselves but overall I achieved my goals as much as I could.

For 2019, my resolution are to
- Acquire one of each of the Luftwaffe flight clasps,
- Finally locate a really nice Luft P/O and Retired Pilot award (that I can afford)
- Add a few more German helmets,
- Start building out my US awards collection (got a bit of a head start in Dec )


So I ask! Do you start the year with a plan? If so, what are your goal?

For me there is never a plan (I'm not that smart)! but the way it works for me is- I find something in the junk pile that's missing something, then it's mission on (pending The Wifey!)

I collect autographs, so my goal is typically one "big" name, such as a well-known general or otherwise notable figure. Sometimes I come upon great opportunities that allow me more than one. I hope to continue my tradition!

I hope to get a Hohenstaufen cufftitle. It has been on my wishlist for a longtime

My plans never play out accordingly, as some of my side interests come in spurts, so I usually try to make them broad...hmm...let's see how many of these I can hit:

US:
-Match 5 USMC EGA singles to their mates
-Finish restoring/researching 2 USMC uniforms that are works in progress
-Add 3 nice USMC portraits

57ers:
-Pickup 3 large combo 57er miniatures
-Add 1 Very Early full size 57er

Norwegian:
-Add 2 quality Nasjonal Samling items
-Pickup 1 nice GSSN item

TR:
-Complete 1 TR insignia display
-Add 3 high quality portraits
-Pickup 1 tradition or squadron badge
-Add 2 stickpin awards

My goal is to stay focused and spend less.
The last couple years, I've bought some big ticket items (considering my
very small budget) Of coarse the minute I say this, the next "gotta have it"
variation will pop up and then I'm back to having to choose between paying
the light bill or buying a cross.

Mmmm. My goal to to get more helmets lol and to locate more hiding spots inside the house. As for a plan...not too sure that the words ‘plan’ and ‘helmets’ can ever really be used in a sentence with any real intent behind them.

In all seriousness, my goal is to practice restraint and hold back for a couple of nice named lids including an M40 and a nice SD 42. Perhaps another nice camo WW1 helmet. And to work towards completing my WW1 Storm Trooper mannequin.

Anyway, that’s the plan....the reality may be very different.
