Hi there i am new here and am not sure if i am posting this in the right forum, but i have seen an item for sale and wanted some advise. I am not sure how to add pics, its the sa dagger with the broken tip, do you think it would be worth getting it re-tipped? or would you leave it as it is? i am looking to buy it but dont know whether to get it re-tipped in the price!?!? all advice welcomed.
    Many thanks in advance.

I have to say having looked at this and checked it out on other sites i think the price is not bad concidering it is an early dagger. However going back to the original question i think the same and I prefer original condition. HTH.

I must admit I am no expert on daggers, but condition is everything. I notice the scabbard is not right either ?

It's all down to how happy you are If you are not sure go for caution, I bought recently a much poorer one but was a hell of a lot cheaper but I am happy with it. I would say if you can afford £350 shop around for a better one.

    Thumbs down Re: Advice needed

Save your money and buy a good looking dagger instead. You will be more pleased with a dagger in great condition then with an ugly but cheaper one. Also keep in mind that when the time to sell comes it's near impossible to unload a corpse dagger for the price you paid...

matthart, that dagger is a "beater" & it is also way over-priced. The scabbard as already stated is not right & the seller appears to know very little about the subject of edged weapons if the description of the other items is anything to go by. For a little more you can do MUCH better & if you would like any advice please feel free to contact me any time.

As for getting it re-tipped I dread to think what they might have in mind. Very specialised work indeed.

Yes save your money and buy a good dagger or for that matter anything thats crap today is still crap.If you re-tip it some one will know and will give you a hard time on it.Beside's SA daggers are not rear and in my book hould not be bringing the kind of money thay are today. All this rear maker stuff is for the dogs thay all look a like, once you got one go on to the next.100 of the same thing with no varation is just dull

I have to say that even as a collector of german daggers myself I also believe them ridiculously over-priced. However there are variations.
    1/ full rohm
    2/ name only rohm
    3/ ground rohm
4/ grip variations that appeal to some like a "blonde" or "tiger stripe" & the quarter sawn oak. None of which I have I might add.

Over hyped to the max IMO & I`m not buying it but each to their own.
