Not trying at all to be rude or unsociable....but in today's computer world, it's not always the best of ideas to be giving out personal information on a public internet forum....

Agreed, one thing that is advised (at least for UK forces) is that its best not to post any details of your career online, especially on facebook or other social networking sites. Its really quite shocking how easy it is to find out details about someone using the internet and a couple of quid, so it would be fairly easy for the IRA or Al Qaeda to find a target if they so desired. I remember hearing something a while back about an Al Qaeda cell in the UK being foiled in their plan to kidnap and execute on video a British soldier within the UK, all of the details about the soldier were discovered through facebook.

    Thanks
