A Foot Soldier For Patton is one of my favorites ones. I haven't read it since I finished around a year or two ago but it was a very good book.

"The forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer. An excellent read, it really puts you in a mud covered, lice infested, tattered German uniform in the frozen wastes of the Eastern front. Cheers,
    Dave.

I am currently reading Rommel by Desmund Young which may be not a true first account but the Author had interviewed many high ranking german and British officers as well as Frau Rommel and there son Manfred and has included much of there testimony in the book.

Those are all of the German first hand account books I have.
My latest book purchase was Normandiefront, D-day to Saint-Lô Through German Eyes, which although not written by one Soldat mainly concentrates on a few men with input from Americans too and is a quality read!
My favourite American book has to be 'Tonight We Die As Men'.

I hope this has helped you?
    Cheers
    Jay
