    Is this a joke?
West point would not sell anything from the museum. This is not that type of museum.

It's amazing what you can do with a toilet roll tube, a couple of brass doorknobs and some glitter you know......

Yes, a museum wont sell it's display piece, at least not this one for sure. I feel like museums shouldnt and thankfully dont sell their items 99% of the time, of course there are rare instances and et cetera. It would be quite a shame to walk in a museum, only to discover that all the nice and historical items have been sold to some millionaires private collection.
Unfortunately, museums here in America will often sell items if they don't fit within their scope or if they're doubles of items they already have in the collection. It's unfortunate and not very respectable to sell donated items, in my opinion, but it happens often. I'm not sure if the same is true of Europe or other places, but it's probably universal.

That said, I don't think that the Reichsmarschall's baton is going anywhere!

Given the baroque tastes of Göring, isn't it possible that this 'baton' is really his toilet paper dispenser? It is the perfect accent to his luxurious but painful diamond-encrusted tissue.

Well, we can safely rule out the possibility that they have another one of those lying around...

Somehow, I doubt that West Point is "negotiating" with anyone to sell off Goering's Baton.....

In the 1950's, the baton was stolen. The not too bright thief advertised it for sale in the ad section of a national men's magazine. I recall reading the ad at the time. Not a bright fellow so you can guess the rest.
