Hello, After seeing many neck breaking photographs I would like to ask
fellow members if there is a commercial camera readily available that produces quality
shots and inexpensive ??
Do some of you use "Light tents" and different backgrounds.. Preferably also
downloding direct to P.C. I currently use a Kodak Easy Share CD 14.. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Gwar
P.S. I have read a few threads about this subject.. I am looking for a easy and non complicated way.. Thanks... G

I use a Casio Exilim EX-ZR100. I looked, and it depends on your definition of inexpensive... but they are in the 200 dollar range... It took a bit of messing around with the settings to get it to take well but I think it does pretty good. I get outside if I can on an overcast day, and use some white foam board for a background. I don't think you need a super expensive camera as long as it has the infamous "macro" green flower! As a bonus my camera has high speed video in case you want to smash something and watch the carnage a'la Mythbusters.

My secret is a bounce flash vs a regular flash on my old Nikon D80 along with a Macro lens for extreme closeups and the Aperture program to tighten the images up.

Set your camera's ISO rating to 100 or below. Always set your
camera on Macro and always use a tripod or been bag to hold
your camera. Hand shake is the biggest cause of blurry pictures.
A light tent really helps.

The most important thing is patience and practice. Don't be
afraid to experiment with different settings until you find
what works for you.

I am no good at indoor lighting, and don't care to drop coin on indoor lights, so I do all of my photography outdoors on bright days. Not always sunny as sometimes even the sun can drown out details and provide too much glare. Some of my best photos are in the morning or on overcast days. I find the photography part of collecting to be rather enjoyable, time permitting.
