Default Captured Gas mask? & some books

    Guys,

Thought I would post these here as there isn't a category.

    1. What looks to be a captured Dutch gas mask dated 1939. Complete with instructions. Is it civy or military, I haven't seen one before. It also had the arm band with red cross.

    2. Brit tea ration tin in a grey colour looks to be dated 44.

    3. An unusual British book from 1870 about the arts but covers Arms & Armour and medevil stuff etc. Very nice book of high quality. the prints are very detailed. Odd that it was here in Germany!

    4. An American book of cartoons by an Artist called Hoff, Have never heard of him but it is dated 1944.

    5. A couple of WH pics.

    6. Imperial German book about Afrika? 'Heia Safari'

    7. Last but not least a 1936 2cm cart that has been made into an ornament?

    Hi Jock,

I think this is a civilian gasmask. the armband is for cd use (LBD = lucht beschermings dienst = Air Defense Service, active only in WW2) The red cross indicates obvious use. After the war the CD organisation was known as BB (Bescherming Bevolking = civil protection)

The Dutch army used different gasmasks. See:
Het Nederlandse Leger 1939-1940: uniform en uitrusting

Click the second figure with the bike then click on the canister.

    Cheers,

    Emile

    Emile,

Thanks for link, it is very useful, I wish I could read Dutch though!

I guess it is a common item in Holland?

    Regards

    Jock
