    Default Dealer credibility

    Good morning gents,

I was just idly surfing around on "tinterweb" and came accross this unbelieveable listing on a site that the unititiated might otherwise regard as credible (military items.com is the site but I shan't bother unless I fancy a chuckle) and think they have found something a bit special!!

This item made me think about how important it is to avoid the assumption that a full colour website means "credible", it doesn't. Assume = Ass+U+Me

This is an illustration of how important it is to know the subject yourself and not take as godspel the descriptions and claims of the seller.

This item is described as "early East German para helmet" and even the fact that it is made of lightweight metal is given as some kind of plus point.

I have attached just one picture because that is all you should need to judge the level of knowledge held by this seller.

I know exactly what this item is and it is not "as described". Of course the clever collector might just find a gem offered in ignorance by a dealer like this

    Regards

    Mark

It never surprises me what dealers try to pass off as something other than what they really are. It pays to know your 'militaryitems' (.com)

A Black sharpie marker would help the value greatly by adding a swastika or two on the helmet

Or maybe bury the thing in a swamp for a few weeks to give it patina (naw, just leave it there) perhaps his web address should be (up the) rusty bullet hole.com

"early East German para helmet" ?

Damn....i bought the same helmet as a "Late war WSS traffic regulator helmet"....and i thought it was logic, no decal as late war and white paint/silver ring" for visibility within traffic...i'd better buy some good books i guess...
    Thanks

Personally, I prefer the later model paratrooper Feuerwehrhelm
