I was going through my reference library and stumbled across an interesting old booklet form 1968. I don't remember how I acquired it but have had it for 5 or 6 years probably. Any way look who is mentioned in the forward. Of course I am assuming that this is the same Bob Coleman that is one of our moderators here on this site, but I am fairly sure it must be. The book is full of black and white photos of items. I just wonder how many of his items in the book are still in his collection today.

He sure as hell looked different back in '68. A bit more ornery and rough around the edges.....He's mellowed a bit with age since then.....

    Ned-
Where did you get that picture of me???
About 65% of the material in that book came from my collection at the time. At the time, I was a student, working two jobs, one of which was a bouncer at a chicago area club. The author went with me on Saturday night as I had to work. He got to drink at the bar for free from 8:00 PM until 3:00 AM. It was good all of the photography was done on Saturday and not Sunday. I still see him every year at the SOS.

When I met you at the SOS Bob - I noticed you were not a small man.... Although, the last thing I would want to see after acting like an idiot at your bar - would be you standing over my shoulder - "back then!".... haha

I wondered what happened to your face. I thought you were in a car wreck.

We are grateful to have Bob Coleman as such a rock of Gibraltar on our site. And the Bob Coleman in the book ca. 1968 ala Bozich is indeed the very same person.

I recall this book from the beginning of my collecting life.

He helped to build this site. He has done so with the same civic spirit as manifest in his pioneer role in the mid 20th century.

I also have a copy of this book. There wasn't much reference
material available at the time. The one above - along with
'WWII German Military Collectibles' by Robert McCarthy,
'Orders, Decorations, Medals and Badges of the Third
    Reich' ( Littlejohn & Dodkins ) plus Ballantine's 'Nazi
Regalia' and 'SS Regalia' - were like gold to me.........!
    Regards,

How true. Many persons have no idea of how scarce knowledge was about these things in the long forgotten depths of the mid 20th century versus the state of resources today.
The great thing is that Bob Coleman was present at the creation with this book, a miracle of its time, and he is here with us now.
For all that we thank him.
