I just finished this small but handsome projekt described below.
But before I venture into this post, I would like to make it 100% clear, that this is no attemt to fake or copy in any way!
The projekt described here is a privately made post war conversion, just like the cross used as inspiration pictured below.
It all started, when a collector friend of mine got in contact and asked me if I could do an Edelweiss conversion to a de-nazified cross of his. He had seen it somewhere but couldn´t find any for sale.
This conversion was done mainly in Austria, I guess as a patriotic thing too, to some crosses used post war, when the swaztika was banned.
He send me 2 crosses, one for him and one for me, and the project went ahead.
Crosses used here are 6. marked Zimmermann and un-marked un-magnetic Wächtler und Lange.
Below I have tried to illustrade the proces of making the crosses. I´m sure different metods of fixing the Edelweiss to the cross have been used, I choose to rivet it with a piece of tube.
Hope you guys like it, and understand the context in which it was made .
Should anyone fancy one, please PM me and remember to provide a de-nazified cross yourself.
