The film industry can't get it right.

It has to be remembered most large scale war films usually have to rely on 'borrowing' someones armed forces to make them which means using whatever they're equipped with, especially heavy stuff like tanks, artillery etc. Even with the modern trend in CGI, if you use some incorrect stuff for live action then it gets repeated in the computer generated sequences (I'm looking at you 'Pearl Harbor'). US stuff was common in many European and South American/SE Asian countries for many years but for Axis stuff this was much rarer and not in great quantities-hard to make a film with a Panzer division with 1 Panzer MkIV!

I'm in it for the entertainment value. If it's fun to watch and takes me
out of my stress filled life for a couple hours, I can overlook a lot.

One of my favorite movies and probably the best car chase sceen
ever filmed the Steve McQueen movie "Bullit". Iconic car chase
down the streets of San Fransisco , even though the Dodge Charger
looses like five hubcaps.

The "Bullit" car chase set the standard in movies for years!

Two others that were pretty good were the "French Connection" and "The Seven Ups".

young lions,mb's hat cord keeps dissapearing in forest scene.not seen it myself but was told the dambusters film shownin USA had b17s added to it.the longest day,in fact the USA had the least numbers of men on day 1.and monty was not always right nor churchill.god bless the pbi of any country.

That great British classic, "Ice Cold In Alex" has a couple of "pearlers" in it.
Right at the end, when the MPs come to collect Anthony Quayle (Capt van der Poel), there is a SERIES I LANDROVER in very clear shot.
Not bad considering the film is set in 1942 and the LR didnt start coming off the assembly lines until 1948!

Just been talking to a mate about all these film mistakes, he reckons there is a Land rover in the Battle of Britain film, it's driving across an airfield during a German bombing raid. Anyone seen it?..

Here`s a pic from the film The Longest Day,the " Messerschmitts " burning on the field are real funny appearing and the tail markings look like prewar,also the sentry on the left is nonchalantly standing there during a strafing attack watching everything burn,not too realistic IMO.

What do you guys think of "The Pacific?" The lesser known little brother of Band of Brothers. I like them both and the best part of them is that my wife enjoys them and actually encourages my collecting. She likes seeing some of the real items she bought me for Christmas in the movies.

The Pacific was much darker and probably more accurately reflected war and its grim nature.

My wife and I have been watching 'The Pacific' series through the Holidays.
Not quite as good as BoB, but still interesting.

A similar Pacific Theater film that she doesn't like is 'The Thin Red Line'
set on location on Guadalcanal. It recieved less attention than BoB,
as they were both released around the same time. Styled after
Veteran/author James Jones' book: 'WWII', certain portions
were taken directly from it - similar scenes were also
included in 'The Pacific' as well..........

Lol I like the German m7 priests

A lot of war movies have incorrect vehicles: In 'PATTON' and 'The Battle Of
The Bulge', some of the jeeps are late 1940's CJ-2A's or 1950's M38's,
along with 1950's Dodge M37 trucks, and all the German Panzers
are US Chaffe tanks.

In 'The Guns Of Navarone', most of the German trucks are
1950's Dodge M37's.

All German tanks and halftracks in the 1960's TV
series 'The Rat Patrol' were American.........
