"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
My first helmet was a US M1c from Vietnam i got for Christmas 2012.
Mine was an M16/17 which cost me £5 around 1980ish.
It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.
I'm Spartacus, not really i'm Paul!...
Looks like a lot of ww1 helmets were the first helmet.
In the 70's my brother & I had WWII helmet Liners (we played army & thought they were helmets) but the 1st official was a WWII fixed-bail M1 shell- has since been given a proper period liner.
I probably got that one about 2009/2010.....many more since
My first was this M35. I bought it 50 years ago from an add in Popular Mechanics fro about $15.00. I think one of my brothers added the decal. Otherwise, untouched as long as I have had it. Have a few more now.
A M16 shell I think. I sold it on to pay for a cap.
Best regards, Patrick
