Seeing as I had taken over thanatos's Christmas thread, I thought I'd better do the right thing and start a general chat thread for whatever is on your mind, anything you want to chat about with other members socially that may not be entirely militaria related. Hopefully this is Ok mods?

Ok, I was chatting to Diomac about fishing the Abrolhos Islands and the mid west of Western Australia, probably not a particularly interesting subject to non Aussies but feel free to join in!

I'd never heard of the Abrolhos Islands, i've just looked on Wikipedia and it looks an interesting place for a visit!...

It's a great place Gunny! There are three main groups of islands and they're all great fun of you like fishing! The northern group are especially interesting for those of us that love our history, the famous wreck of the VOC ship Batavia happened on Morning Reef, followed by the mutiny and murders of at least 125 people. It still remains Australia's worst mass murder yet it took place 150 years before Captain James Cook landed on the east coast of our country.

I'd love to make it over there one day and explore, maybe rent a Harley and tour around on the mainland. I can imagine sitting outside a pub with a cold Swan lager, hey how come you Aussies export the crap beer to us!...

Steve, some of the beaches have lots of good looking naked Sheila's lying about, they're usually foreign tourists, I had the pleasure of taking many of them on tour to the Ningaloo Reef here for 8 years. When I get my lazy bum out of bed I'll attach a few pics of my tour guiding days, they were fun times!
