Guys i've been away for a week so missed this one , as has been pointed out already i'm sorry to say this is not a photo of Helmuth Becker and was incorrectly identified as him in Bruce Quarries book please don't take his book as a good reference for anything, this photo is almost certainly taken in Besserabia in 1944 whilst TK was serving with Stug Brigade 228 and shoes an unknown SS-Untersturmführer.
How could it be Becker he held the rank of SS-Untersturmführer pre war as early as 1935 whilst a member of the SS TV , he reached the rank of SS Obersturmbannfuhrer on 30/1/1938 and SS Standartenfuhrer in May 1940, in autumn 1942 he was the Regimental Commander of SS Pz Gren Regt 6 !! When this photo was taken ( look at the M43 caps ) he would have been at least the rank of SS Oberfuhrer , plus it doesn't look anything likle him !!!
regards
Paul

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
Could it be General Der Panzertruppen Otto Von Knobelsdorff ?
Cheers
