You are correct and should post a new question. It is said these were designed for the proposed invasion of Malta, following the lessons learnt at Kreta about them being dropped with no ammo etc.. There is at least one known example in collections and it is shown on page 63 of the Kurtz Afrikakorps book on uniforms.
