    No sorry the compass was in the V1,s nose,the gyro was in the rear,just under the intake of the ram jet.The compass governed the master gyro.

    I know what this is I knew I had seen those 3 little holes before. It's from a pigeon guided missile isn't it? I don't remember how it worked exactly but they peck at those things in the nose that guide it to the target. I'm amazed it wasn't a British invention, seems typically mad for us to think up

    Well knock me down with a feather duster,That's something else.Have never seen that one before.
    Had a squiz on the net,US Project Pigeon.Scary thing was it worked.
    Maybe our Dr Skinner was a Brit. in disguise.

    I did see something about the pigeon guided weapon system on the TV some time back, but would not recognise it from the pic posted, but could not resist the earlier comment
