Before I can say "yes" or "no" you would have to give me a guess for the "what are they doing?" bit

Thats good enough KradSpam, you got it

It's a picture of a Troop Command Post of the Royal Canadian Artillery in Italy 1944. The guy on the left is the wireless operator who would relay target information (usually map references) from the OP. The young kid on the right is a GPOA (Gun Position Officer's Assistant) or "ack" who is using an artillery board to convert the target info into firing data for the guns (switch and range). The officer in the middle is the Gun Position Officer and he is operating the 'Tannoy' speaker system to give orders to the four guns in the troop. There would usually be another man in the TCP operating the telephone links to the Battery CP and the other TCP.

    OK, so you're up KradSpam

Interesting stuff Rob, reading about battles you often hear of artillery from the infantryman's perspective. Rarely with behind the scenes details OK I'm going to find a good one now, I hope....

    Hi,
That is a W.W.1 flame thower, it would have been buried in a tunnel and there would have been a shaft going up to the firing point. I think it has a range of about something like 100 metres. ( dont know it.s real name. )

Nice job Pz3, that's right it is a "Livens Large Gallery Flame Projector". Where these things were deployed on the Somme the British managed to take the German lines with very light loses, but these gains could not be exploited due to the obvious results of the rest of the attack. Had they made them in the hundreds rather than just 4 machines things may have been different......

A great example of weird crap we British create in war also

    Find a good one Pz3!
