Hitler assassination plotter Von Kleist dies

A former German army lieutenant who took part in a plot to assassinate German leader Adolf Hitler in 1944 has died.

Ewald-Heinrich von Kleist died aged 90 at his home in Munich last Friday, his wife Gundula told the Associated Press.

Mr von Kleist was just 22 when he volunteered to wear a suicide vest at a meeting with Hitler.

The meeting did not come off, but months later he played a key role in what became known as the 20 July plot...

How did he manage not to get caught? All branches of the TR assisted in the hunt for would be assassins. Countless fell from this purge. Even high ranking figures such as Rommel. If he would have participated then others knew of his plans also. Im stumped as to how he could have never been figured out... Perhaps others may have an explanation? Thanks

He was arrested and interrogated but later released, his father was killed however

You nailed it Harry!!! Not many elder Army guys or SS men around anymore...just a handful,, mostly now the Generation of the HJ, DJ, BDM,, Also some of the children to these high up guys.
