I am a novice at photos, my wife was the editor of a newspaper for years and an avid photographer before she passed away so I picked up some things from her. I learned that the F stop was great to bring the entire image in focus. Of course it usually requires a long shutter exposure time but the results make all the difference. If you have a manual mode on your camera you should try it. The first photo is taken with a 55mm lens on a canon camera at 1.4f while the second is taken with the same lens at 22f. Notice how it brings the entire photo in focus while the first has a very fine focal point.
