Not illegal by any means. However, ones job could be at stake if the state they work in is an "At Will" state, meaning an employer can fire you without just cause. If said employer discovers your interest in "Nazi stuff" and doesn't appreciate it, there would be nothing illegal about them terminating your employment.
As for individuals working/volunteering in politics, there is always the possibility that if found out the person collects TR items, this could ruin their career. Below is an article on a dealer who has affiliation with a local Tea Party group. While the reason behind ousting that fact that he sells Nazi stuff seems political, I'm sure it didn't help the groups efforts despite what the article says....Especially considering many have made comparisons between the Nazi Party and the Tea Party.

I am sure everyone has heard this before. The japs were as horrible as the Nazis and ole Joe Stalin was no wis in killing his own or any other nations folks!!.But a German item makes most of the political cruds cringe at it.Most all of the ARMED FORCES of Germany were not murdering Jews, but were trying to win a war and stay alive! This is a free country and as long as you dont attempt to do harm to the people or the Govt. then you should not worry about buying German stuff!! Goodbuys
