Interesting picture of an SS cap!
It's a shame such places were destroyed. They would make for very interesting "attractions" for historians. Part of the thrill of studying history is being able to stand exactly where it happened, within the same walls, under the same roof and to walk the same floors. I guess pictures will have to do for those who didn't get to be there.
I just wish that there would be more pictures
Based on the marks on the legs of the furniture, the water wasnt that high, but the cap still has mold all the way to the top :O It might just be dust.
That's one of F-B's favourite images if I remember correctly...
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
Poignant pics.
