    It means a variety of things, including struggle, battle, fight, etc.

    'Panzerkampfabzeichen' translates to 'Tank Assault Badge'

    Terry

    It does mean struggle as in Mein Kampf but also means battle, fight or combat.

    Hence

    Nahkampf - close combat

    Kampfgruppe - battle group

    Panzerkampf - tank battle or perhaps tank combat in the context of the badge.

    In the context of TR decorations it can be translated as 'Combat' or 'Battle'.

    The word 'Sturm' would be a better translation for 'Assault'.

    For example:

    Tank Battle Badge = Panzer Kampf Abzeichen.

    Nahkampfspange = Close Combat Clasp.

    Infanterie Sturm Abzeichen = Infantry Assault Badge.

    Allgemeine Sturm Abzeichen = General Assault badge.

    No doubt some native German speakers will be along to correct me but this is how I see it!

    Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

    Or can be used thus: 'Klag nicht, kämpft!' - 'Dont complain, fight!'
