It may have been over a year ago but I now feel compelled to sincerely apologize. I do believe my first post was one of those dreaded, "Is it real or fake?" titled threads. I was young and dumb, lol. I have come to realize just how annoying those threads are. Many apologies, Ade!

Thanks Ade i never saw this thread until today,I agree this should be bumped or pinned or something for the newbies, the best thread headings are "im confused"what about life?or "i need help"well see a doctor then?is it just me or do the newbie threads now seem a lot more hard work to deal with?only my honest opinion but some do seem to keep going over and over the same thread, regards Dave.

I notice we are still getting threads without any information in the titles to aid when searching for the subject in question.
Hi Jerry, I know and do edit a lot of these as well!

Hi Dave: the search button is sadly very under used....

    Cheers, Ade.

I'm pretty sure I've violated a few of these rules in the past but I'm getting better trained as the days go by. I can't thank everyone here enough for the vast information my tired brain has gathered since I've joined this fourm.

    Thank you

Hi Guys, quite an important point has come up regarding posting as much info as you can into a thread.

I have over the past week created a whole range of new specialised sub forums.

Due to the nature of the search engine and how it functions some abrieviations will not "search". As we all know many German makers used three letter codes or their makers name as just letters. This makes it hard to search for an item. So to improve the chances of someone finding the item, try and include the makers letters in the thread title. This will at least make it more prominent and easy to catch the eye when scrolling down the forum threads.

    Thanks Guys!

    Cheers, Ade.

I'm with Ade on this one. I went through about 28 pages of thread in the TR Orders and Decorations forum after Ade had shifted the bulk of them to their new respective forums and there were loads of threads with varying combinations of letters which weren't picked up in the initial move.

Also, there are also scores of old 'Is it Real.....?', 'Question on medal.....', 'German Badge.....' titles which could actually be anything and will need me to go through them all, re-title them and move them to the proper place. A good, informative title with key words is a must or else it will just remain buried forever if no-one can pick it up in a search.

I know I go on alot about posting multiple items in their own threads but again, this is for a reason. Mulitple items will get mulitple answers in no set order so a long and confusing thread starts when different pieces are discussed in the same place. Please seperate your pieces and give each their own thread.

I also came across very many threads like this with EKs, combat badges and other medals all in the same title and thread. It poses a problem about what to do with these threads as there are seperate forums for each award now so I have to leave them where they are as I can't break up a thread about a Panzerkampfabzeichen, an EK and a Verwundetenabzeichen when all the pieces are photographed together and all in the same post.

When you start a thread, make sure the title is as informative as possible please and uses the words for the piece you wish to discuss.

    Thank you for your co-operation!

I want to say thanks to both Ade and Adrian for moving the bulk and adding the correct titles it, sounds like a very long and painful task. Hopefully people will listen to your advice and messages here about doing it the right way.

Hi Guys, in order to illustrate my earlier point in post 26, I have now edited the entire new Nahkamfpspange forum (3 pages of threads). Take a look, the titles of each post now have makers details in them and are now easy to search (without trying to do it via the search engine which would not have found them)

    Cheers, Ade.

PS: Thanks Daniel. I had had a lot of very late nights this week. But it is worth it.

I agree with both of our esteemed mods.
If I know the information, I always try to include it in the title. But, there are many people who know nothing about what they post and are here to find out as much as they can.
A big to all of the mods here.
    Ralph.
