Last surviving Dambuster reveals how he celebrated the success of his daring raid – with a fry up and a cup of tea, of course!
It's nice to see a story like this every once in a while as opposed to the ones that only remind us of the death of a veteran.

That should be 'Last TWO surviving Dambusters... still alive!'
The New Zealander Squadron Leader John Leslie (Les) Munro CNZM, DSO, QSO, DFC, JP (Ret.) (born 5 April 1919) is still kicking in Tauranga.
He was the pilot of Lancaster ED921/G 'AJ-W' (Willie) that was hit by flak over the Netherlands outward bound to the dams. All communication in the aircraft was lost and the crew elected to return to Scampton with their bomb intact.
I bet he's having a quiet chuckle now, having dodged rolling a seven yet again....

Johny Johnson has featured in a reasonable recent documemtsary about the Dams raid where he was taken back to the Dams for the first time since the war , a very emotional experience for him. He was very critical and rightly so of the modern revisionist Historians who have written books questioning Bomber Command and the tactics used !!
The Lanc he used on the Dams raid was later shot down whilst still flying with 617 Squadron and is was found in France a few years ago , Johny was guest of honour at the dig to recover it.
He is a great bloke and a true Hero !!

The documentary was called the Last Dambuster so i guess the producers of that forgot about Les Munro as well !!

Yes poor old les has been forgotten. He was in the news lately. Selling his medals to pay for the upkeep of the bomber comand memorial in london.
