Default A little surprise that turned out to be a BIG surprise

My Father called me last night and asked if i could come over to their home, i drove over to them and sat down and had a cup of coffe. He then told me he had something for me after his father, my grandfather who were involved in ww2. They dont talk so much at all of this time in their life, and i understand they dont want to talk of it so i have not asked for details.
He said he had one of my grandfathers medals for me, he had no papers or diplom because he had thrown away everything after he passed away in the 1980s without checking the stuff.

I only know he was involved in some resistance and he sat in a prison camp for his actions, right after the war he was working as a policeofficer. This is all i know of him. Maybe my parents will tell me something more about him some day.

Anyway, i now have a medal that is worth 100 times more for me than all the other nameless items in my collection.

It is a Norwegian Participant medal, nothing rare or special, but for me it absolutely is. I couldnt be happier.

Love it, the family connection is great. I don't know where the hell my Grandfathers medals ended up.

    Congratulations Trond!
It really is something special to have medals earned by your grandfather.

    Very nice.
It's great to have a piece with a family connection to it.
My favorite piece in my collection is also one of the least valuable (to anyone else)
but to me it is priceless.
    Congratulations.
