That is a shame. Time Team was and is a great show, made all the better for the likes of this man. R.I.P.

A very unexpected passing. I didn't realise until last week that he lived not far from here on the Somerset levels, a colleague used to see him regularly on the nature reserves.

    RIP Mick.

It certainly won't. 'Time Team' was axed earlier this year due to falling ratings and claims (mainly made by Mick Aston) that the series had been "dumbed down". The final episode was broadcast on the 24th of March, it's due to be replaced next year by a completely new programme with a different crew tentatively called 'Village Dig'.

Mick Aston had a long standing respiratory disease known as "Farmer's Lung" caused by inhalation of mold spores and had suffered a stroke in the last few years, but if either was a cause, partial or otherwise to his death I don't know. My aunt had worked with him on several projects regarding neolithic and dark age settlements over the course of many years, and says he was a kind and gentle man who everyone liked and respected.

    R.I.P. Mick.
