Hi guys, any German members live near Munchen? Trying to sort out a hotel for the Octoberfest, anyone any ideas of a good place to stay?

Hi, i'm not German but do live in Munich. Oktoberfest time is always very expenisve and in my eyes getting very overrated. Hotels around the fest itself will generally increase their prices by 5 fold, so its maybe better to try a camp site (if you have a tent/caravan/campervan. Prices for a beer last year were €9.25 and you're expected to tip, so make that €10 a beer, then half a chicken is around the €7, add that lot up and its starts to become expensive.

There are some hotels around the hauptbahnhof area (main central station) but i can't think of them off the top of my head, maybe look up trivago and see what you can come up with.
