Nice one Nuno, I am really getting into submarines lately in more ways than one !!

I would like to visit that myself , we used to have a complete U-Boat not far from where I live, but they had to cut it into pieces to display it which was a shame

Is this the one in Birkenhead?

Indeed, the decision to move U-534 was not an issue, but what they then did to that boat was terrible. In my opinion, they ruined a fantastic display. The boat should have been covered, not cut up. I believe that she is still the only intact U-Boat raised from the deep too, and feel fortunate to have been able to enjoy several walk-through tours when she was intact. Who knows, perhaps one day they will remove the glass panels and weld her back together...

Luckily, I was able to walk around it all by myself, as it lay on the harbour front before leaving for the UK.
It should NEVER have left Denmark near where it was raised.
Borders on the criminal not only to let it slip away but also to cut it up.

There was sadly no interest in keeping it in Denmark.
Ree (the bloke who raised it in the hope of finding a treasure) lost interest, I think.
Especially as there was no backing up initiatives for keeping it around.
The Danish government certainly didnt express an interest.
The climate in Denmark is too PC to ever let a German WWII sub get any reqognition.
Its very sad IMO.
