Nazi Helmet Value

Hello, I have what I believe is an original Nazi helmet. My father told me one of my great-uncles pulled it off of a dead nazi while he was lost from him platoon. Not sure what country he was in. I have posted pictures. Inside the back of the back is stamped 'r.p.' with 'halr' underneath it and in the center of the leather it is stamped with '58' Just wondering if it was worth selling, since me nor my father want it. better photos are required if you need a better evaluation from the experts on this matter.
But from what is possible to see from these ones, no decal should be that higher up.

Is it possible to get away from the term "nazi" when describing militaries. A " Nazi" was a member if the national socialist party, not every german was a Nazi, most of those in the armed forces at the time where regular soldiers.

Agreed, most german soldiers were not nazis or even didnt like the nazis, they were mere soldiers fighting for their homeland

I should explain myself further. I am not having a go at you by using the term Nazi, but I have the portraits of my two great unles, and the amount of people, who don't know any better, always say, look Nazis! I am not offended by the term, but I feel that the generals public assumes every one in the armed forces at the time were Nazis. I have a few Nazi items, like a part badge and my rochus misch autographs, but helmets and field gear are not necessarily Nazi items. I like your helmet, looks like a police type.
To put it in a modern context, I went to Iraq when Australia had a labour govt, but I was not a member of the labour party, they were the govt at the time, and as a soldier you are bound to follow the govts orders.
So please do not tske offense, it's all about education

i might be intersted .it looks like a common fire police helmet .the pictures are not good but looks ok as the decals look high but might be just how you have it?

I did not take offense to the comments about all German soldiers not being Nazis. I realize I should have written something else. I believe the samething. I had a few distant relatives be accused of being Communist sympathyzers in the 50s because they didn't agree with everything the government was doing. Which was funny because, one of them had been a drill sergeant during WW2. Again, no offense was taken.

As for the decals being too high, I don't believe it to be a fake, as the great uncle of mine whom got it, told me about how he got it when I was a young child. I couldn't imagine why he would make up a story and take the trouble to obtain the helmet.

The helmet in the first post of the thread is an M34 Civic Police type helmet, and even with the poor pictures, I am sure it is 100% period correct. Jim G.

Decals being higher up can also be observed on these lids as i am sure you have noticed Jim

have seen them very nearly horizontal on these civic helmets before! someone must have been on the jager miester or the like when applying them! haha
